Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950) was a renowned Indian philosopher, yogi, poet, and nationalist. Born in Calcutta, India, he studied in England and returned to India to join the Indian independence movement. After a spiritual transformation, he retreated to Pondicherry, where he developed his spiritual teachings, known as Integral Yoga, and wrote extensively on spirituality, philosophy, and yoga. His most famous works include "The Life Divine" and "Savitri".
The Mother (1878-1973), born Mirra Alfassa, was a spiritual collaborator and companion of Sri Aurobindo. Born in Paris she was drawn to spirituality from an early age. She met Sri Aurobindo in 1914 and joined him in Pondicherry, where she played a crucial role in the development of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and the city of Auroville. She was a spiritual guide, artist, and writer, and her writings and talks have been compiled into several volumes, including "The Mother's Agenda".
